About Us

Mike Coons has been involved with the practice of human suspension for over 20 years. His first time being suspended was in 2004. In 2007, Mike attended the Art of Human Suspension seminar, out on by Professional Piercer Information Systems (PPIS) and taught by Allen Falkner, Erik Dakota and Jared Anderson. It was this experience that motivated Mike to host this seminar. To pass on the gift that this amazing experience gave him and others. 

Mike founded HOOKED Suspension Team (later known as HOOKED Human Suspension) later in 2007 and shortly thereafter became an extended member of both Constructs of Ritual Evolution (CoRE) out of Houston, LA and San Francisco.

Mike has attended and been on the suspension crew at multiple events. Most notably, Dallas SusCon, Oslo SusCon, Hang You, Xalapa Zipline Suspensions, Ontario SusCon and Denver SusCon. 

Mike also hosted MECCA, a large-scale suspension event from 2012 to 2019 and then a smaller, more intimate version in 2023. These events were geared towards practitioners. A place where we all could come together and enjoy each other’s company and attempt some projects that might not fit well into other formats. 

Charlyne864 has been facilitating hook suspension since 2010 and rope suspension since 2016.

Her way of facilitating is centered on the suspendee’s experience, which led her in early 2021 to start studying life coaching, Mental Health First Aid, and keep reading trauma-related material putting emphasis on shadow work.

As a spiritual person practicing the occult, Charlyne would often make suspensions as rituals, occasionally mixing hooks with ropes or bloodletting. In her practice - which she refers to as “the occult therapy” - ritual, psychology, and somatic experience are combined into a framework of personal growth.

Melanie Leandro is of indigenous descent from Costa Rican roots. She has been involved in suspension for 10+ years. First actively exposed to suspension thru Res Rites in California which was made up of many women and non binary members of the suspension community. Since then, she has attended and facilitated suspension around 6 continents from Europe, North, South and Central America and even Asia, learning from various practitioners and collaborating on various events and projects. Some suspensions span events like Immersive Environments in New Zealand, Ahimsa in the Yucatan, Mexico and Chile, Oslo Suscon, BMX in Europe, Hang you in Spain, Mecca and Denver in the states, Ontario Suscon in Canada, and even facilitating in Thailand.

Melanie wishes to travel the world and collaborate with many facilitators and suspendees in an effort to decolonize and spread knowledge regarding this ritual we call suspension. She believes knowledge should be inclusive and about community and taking care of each other. She attributes much of her learning to a diverse community and continues to collaborate and create in an effort to connect with more folkx in many marginal communities. Currently, she has facilitated suspension for various ritual performances and holds a suspension day with friends in Northern California.

Born in Mondariz, Spain, became body piercer in 1998.

Started piercing in the south of Holland in 1998 and moved to Spain in 2000 in Valladolid, from there he was working in other places like the Basque Country. In 2004, he travelled to Mexico, where he was initiated with body suspensions and body mods.

From there he was going back to work in Bilbao for a few years, also mixing it with travelling worldwide, doing guest spots in a lot of reputable shops in the USA, México, France, Holland, Norway, Denmark and many other countries in Europe and in Southeast Asia.

In 2010, he created the suspension crew Indigenak that is still active today and has been doing suspensions in over 20 countries.

He has been organizing a suspension retreat in Spain for the last 7 years called “Hang you” with the help of his team.

Alex is now based in Berlin, working at Dergrimm Tattoo Studio, where he performs piercings, suspensions, and bodmods.

Sasha is a suspension practitioner and the founder of the Denver Suspension Collective (DSC), an organization dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces for hook suspension. He has been involved in the suspension community since 2012, has organized regular events in Colorado since 2016, and has participated in educational suspension events in nine countries. The DSC currently hosts a monthly suspension meet in Denver with a strong emphasis on safety, accessibility, and community connection. 

Kevin did his first suspension in 2004 and began actively facilitating suspensions with +iWasCured in 2013. In 2023, Kevin helped launch the Ontario Suspension Collective alongside several former members of +iWasCured. Kevin has had the opportunity to participate in several international suspension events over the years including MECCA, Oslo Suscon, Dallas Suscon, Hang You, SKIN New York & Philadelphia, and most recently the Denver Suspension Retreat and the 2025 Ontario Suscon. Kevin was one of the lead organizers of the 2025 Ontario Suscon.

Kevin is passionate about suspension and the community of people that come together around this practice. When he isn’t actively facilitating suspensions, there’s a good chance he’s busy doing things behind the scenes leading up to the next suspension event.

While not an instructor at the 13 Hook Suspension Seminars, Kevin is providing support as an assistant organizer, building the website, and assisting with the layout and design of the reference guide and accompanying print materials.
